Assistants connect with CIMD

Assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude can now connect with a client ID metadata document (CIMD), and approval shows its domain.

  • The approval screen shows the domain an app is published at.
  • Apps that run on your computer show a warning before you approve.
  • Existing connections keep working, as do apps that register themselves.

Until now every assistant registered itself with Taskaid the first time it connected, under whatever name it chose. An assistant can now identify itself with a description published at its own web address instead, which Taskaid reads each time you approve it. The approval screen shows that address's domain, the one part of an app's identity Taskaid has checked.

An app that runs on your own computer, such as a command-line assistant, can't be confirmed that way, because any program on the machine could use its name. The approval screen now says so. Approve it only when you started the connection yourself.
